Dear Friends,
We're wrapping up a very busy and fun-filled 2010. This year, using our soapbox, we were the voice of our clients, informing the community about a new parking program to combat congestion in Seattle, a non-profit helping those with ADHD reach their potential, and a fun new rally school in Snoqualmie Falls--just to name a few projects.
Our Team has expanded a bit too. Janda and her family are back in Seattle full-time, so we get to see her in the office much more, although her beloved pug, The Chairman Bart, has yet to make an appearance. Mary Leake Schilder joins us from animal advocacy group and rehabilitation shelter PAWS, to tackle all sorts of new projects.
Happy Holidays!

P.S. Our Facebook page is up and running: facebook.com/teamsoapbox --and we promise to limit the number of cute pics of Lola, especially since she now has her own Facebook page: facebook.com/lolachow

Do you ePark?
Eat, enjoy, escape, explore. These are just a few of the things that are part of people's downtown experience.
When the Alaskan Way Viaduct eventually closes, over 1,000 parking spaces will be removed. e-Park is the new, real-time parking guidance system that will assist drivers as they come downtown in search of short-term parking. No more circling for spots, since the e-Park system of signs throughout the downtown core will direct drivers to lots nearby and let them know how many spaces are available at that exact moment.
Team Soapbox helped develop a logo and branding; taglines and key messaging; as well as media and marketing materials. The program launch at Westlake was a success with Mayor McGinn and Kate Joncas of the DSA. We secured lots of great media coverage around the event as well. Be sure to look for the signs when you're sick of circling the block for parking!
Here is a nice KOMO 4 segment that ran before the launch.

"Throttle Lift, Turn & Break"

These are words to live by; or stay alive by. Lift, turn, break is the fundamental driving skill to turn on a dime in about a foot of mud. How do we know this? One of our new clients: DirtFish Rally School in Snoqualmie.
Founded by a group of auto enthusiasts from various racing backgrounds, DirtFish Rally School is located on the old Weyerhaeuser Lumber Mill property in Snoqualmie Falls, against a gorgeous backdrop of mountains and rivers. A fleet of bright orange Subaru cars race around on the varied terrain that is a rally course--asphalt, gravel, dirt, mud and snow.
Team Soapbox helped with the media launch and grand opening of the school, putting journalists behind the wheel of the school's superfast Subarus, and watching them squeal with excitement. DirtFish is one of only three year-round rally schools in the entire country and we are totally psyched it's right in our backyard. We spent our last Fun Day out there, kicking up dirt and having fun.

Coaching for Success

Team Soapbox recently welcomed the Edge Foundation, a Seattle-based non-profit whose mission is to help young people with ADHD fully realize their own academic potential, personal vision and passion through personal coaching.
In November, the Edge Foundation released the results of a study demonstrating the effectiveness of their model of ADHD coaching. It showed that coaching helped college students with ADHD improve their ability to organize, self-regulate and achieve goals--all critical for a successful academic career.
Team Soapbox is helping the Edge Foundation get the word out about the study and the benefits of coaching to help young people with ADHD tap into this life-changing resource. Team Soapbox worked with Dr. Sanjay Gupta's blog on CNN.com to cover the survey, sparking inquiries from across the country. CNN plans to do another story on its Health Minute segment and Team Soapbox is working with other national outlets to spread the word.

Next Up... Team Soapbox recently started working with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society--Greater Northwest Chaper to build awareness about this disease that's so prevalent in the Pacific Northwest. We are also strumming up some media attention about our neighbor, Redmond, WA and all of the great happenings there with Experience Redmond.
