Christine and Janda   Dear Friends,

2009 has been filled with great collaboration with clients, artist and
community members. We were happy to have the opportunity to
help pedestrians and drivers stay safe--on thehighways, and near train
tracks--thanks to our work with Sound Transit and SWERVE. We also
helped with art installation project "Kites Over Washington," featuring the
work of performance artist Seth Abramson. So many great things
                                   happening in our community.
We love using our Soapbox to make people aware of them.

Team Soapbox and Sound Transit Make Tracks for Safety

Zap on Board smaller size
Team Soapbox was hired by Sound Transit earlier this spring to help educate students and teens about pedestrian safety around the new Link Light Rail trains now running in the greater Seattle area. The Rainier Beach and south end neighborhoods to Tukwila were identified as a focus for outreach, given the overall age range of residents, the many cultural and language challenges and the proximity to the tracks. Team Soapbox and its partners, Bullseye Creative, Storybox Studios and Playmasons created an elementary school-age game, a Zap On Board website, a 90- and 60- second PSA and a student film contest with local high schools. The game has been distributed to nearly 9,000 students and has been well received in school assemblies and community events. Check out the links to the film festival and Zap on Board!

SWERVE Drive Nice! Day 2009

SWERVE team shot small

Team Soapbox helped local driver training company, SWERVE, make an even bigger splash for the third annual Drive Nice! Day in Seattle and Tacoma. This year we actually quadrupled the earned media coverage from the previous year and May 22 was officially designated "Drive Nice! Day" in Washington State. Team Soapboxers enjoyed the city challenge and starting our morning out on the streets of Pike and Boren participating in the challenge.
Remember to always Drive Nice.

Up, Up and Away!

kites smallTeam Soapbox got to lend its box to the Credit Unions of Washington as they brought in kite master and performance artist, Seth Abramson, to fly 121 kites over Gas Works Park. It was a breathtaking sight covered widely by television, radio, print, bloggers and even the Seattle Times sketch artist.  The website recaps the beauty of the day. The visual beauty was only matched by the sound of kites fluttering in the wind. Watch the website for the 3-minute art film created by Women In Films and Big Bang Electric. Cameo appearances by Soapboxers and their friends and family.
Next Up...
Team Soapbox is thrilled to have been awarded more work in the transportation vein. We are currently at work branding and launching a new parking-related program for the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT). We're also helping SDOT reach out to pedestrians and drivers in watching out for each other during the holiday season. A recent contract signed with the Washington Traffic Safety Commission (WTSC) has got us thinking about driver safety all across the state.
