Seattle/King County Clinic (2025)

Seattle/King County Clinic (SKCC) is a volunteer led four-day health clinic that provides medical, dental, and vision care to underserved and uninsured populations at Seattle Center. Despite its significant impact, public awareness of the Clinic remained low. To address this, Team Soapbox engaged with SKCC to support a comprehensive media and marketing strategy to elevate its visibility and engage the community.

Our work focused primarily on generating earned media about the Clinic – both in advance of the four-day clinic (April 24-27) and during the clinic.

Prior to the clinic, Team Soapbox successfully coordinated a press conference on April 7, 2025, for Access to Healthcare Day—an advocacy event focused on addressing healthcare inequities. Speakers at the press conference included Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, Deputy King County Executive Shannon Braddock, and founding Pearl Jam member and health advocate, Stone Gossard. The press conference resulted in media coverage by major broadcast television (KIRO, KOMO and Fox 13), radio (KUOW), and our team wrote and placed an op-ed in The Seattle Times about Access to Healthcare Day. We also worked with major landmarks and buildings in Seattle to turn green on April 7 (the national color for healthcare advocacy) and secured proclamations from Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, King County Executive Shannon Braddock, and Governor Bob Ferguson – each declaring April 7 as Access to Healthcare Day.

In addition, Team Soapbox developed a suite of social media assets for use by SKCC and supported the production of a public service announcement (PSA) video that aired on FOX 13, along with radio PSAs broadcast across multiple Puget Sound region stations.

As the Clinic opened its doors, Team Soapbox ramped up efforts to secure real-time media coverage. Through targeted press releases and media advisories, we successfully generated 38 media hits across a wide range of outlets including The Seattle Times, Seattle Chinese Times, Puget Sound Business Journal, 425 Magazine, KIRO 7, KOMO 4, KING 5, KUOW, South Seattle Emerald, NW News Radio, and others. Many of these outlets ran multiple stories throughout the Clinic’s four-day run. The result was not only a significant increase in public awareness of the Clinic and its services, but also strong endorsements from influential voices. Most notably, The Seattle Times editorial board published a glowing editorial in the week following the Clinic, celebrating SKCC’s vital role in addressing healthcare disparities in our region.
