Seattle Foundation: Civic Commons Initiative

In 2018 Team Soapbox began working with the Seattle Foundation in support of a new Foundation initiative to engage local communities in policymaking to combat economic and social inequity in King County.

As the project began, we worked with Foundation staff to create key messages about the initiative and signature programs, as well as copywriting to support communications efforts.

Our messaging development was supported by rigorous group workshops that we designed and facilitated, as well as draft feedback interviews with representatives from target audience groups. Ultimately, we used our messaging framework as the building blocks to write, design and develop a project website (https://www.civic-commons.org/). The Foundation also utilized our messaging for a public launch event of the initiative, producing print and digital collateral that introduced the project to attendees.

Team Soapbox also created a wordmark identity for the initiative that was aligned with existing Seattle Foundation brand guidelines. We are continuing to work with the Foundation team in support of their ongoing We Belong Here project, including regular blogging, copywriting, and events support.
