Kaiser Permanente of WA, Seafair Sponsorship Activation (Summer 2025)

In May 2025, Team Soapbox partnered with Kaiser Permanente of Washington to transform their inaugural title sponsorship of the 2025 Seafair Festival into a comprehensive brand activation strategy.

Kaiser Permanente of Washington faced a unique opportunity: leveraging their role as one of the lead sponsors of Seafair and the annual Seafair Torchlight Run to increase brand awareness and community engagement. As a first-time major sponsor, they leaned on our team to:

  • Navigate the complexities of multiple large-scale public events

  • Create memorable brand experiences across diverse audiences

  • Coordinate numerous vendors and stakeholders

  • Ensure seamless execution during high-visibility moments

  • Provide media relations support for executive leader onsite at the Torchlight Parade

Approach

Team Soapbox developed an integrated strategy spanning three months and three distinct event types: the Seafair Kickoff Press Conference (6/20), the Seafair Torchlight Run and Parade (7/26), and the Boeing Seafair Airshow VIP Skybox (8/2).

Team Soapbox regularly communicated with Kaiser Permanente's communications, marketing, and sales teams, leading or participating in weekly planning meetings from May through July. This collaborative approach ensured alignment with KP's brand values and messaging while leveraging Soapbox's event expertise.

For the Torchlight Run and Parade, Team Soapbox orchestrated two simultaneous large-scale activations:

  • KP Play Zone at Pier 58: Family-friendly yard games, public mural painting, and branded giveaways

  • KP Service Station at Pier 68: Specialized zones including volunteer coordination, low sensory spaces, lactation areas, and first aid stations

Team Soapbox served as the vendor liaison, managing relationships with nine specialized vendors across categories including promotional items and signage, catering services, party rentals and A/V equipment, and photography and mobile services

Beyond logistics, Team Soapbox provided direct support to Kaiser Permanente leadership, including media assistance for newly appointed Regional President Cynthia Dold during high-profile moments.

Results

Through meticulous planning and flawless execution of three distinct events over a three-month period, Team Soapbox helped Kaiser Permanente maximize their investment as a Title Sponsor. All three events were delivered on time, within budget, and with minimal operational issues, despite the complexity of coordinating multiple vendors, locations, and stakeholder groups.

Team Soapbox’s strategic approach helped Kaiser Permanente establish a strong presence in the Seattle community during their first year as lead sponsor, creating positive brand associations through well-executed community engagement. Kaiser Permanente leadership praised Team Soapbox's execution, specifically noting that all events exceeded their expectations for their inaugural year as a major Seafair sponsor.

The success of this project demonstrated Team Soapbox's capability to manage complex, multi-event campaigns while delivering measurable value to clients seeking to maximize their marketing investments through experiential activations.

Snohomish County Office of Social Justice, Communications Counsel – 2023-24

The Snohomish County Office of Social Justice (OSJ) engaged Team Soapbox to provide strategic communications support aimed at increasing public awareness of the department and its mission.

Our work began with the development of a comprehensive communications plan, designed in alignment with OSJ’s goals and priorities.

Following discovery meetings with the client, we proposed a plan centered on creating compelling collateral, enhancing digital presence, and producing multimedia content. Specific deliverables included:

  • Website Redesign: The existing OSJ website was outdated, misaligned with brand guidelines, and lacked a user-friendly interface. We reimagined the site architecture, designed modern and accessible page layouts, wrote new content, and fully integrated the refreshed brand identity to create an engaging and cohesive user experience.

  • Original Photography: In response to concerns about overused stock imagery, we collaborated with a professional photographer to capture original images featuring community organizations funded by OSJ and recognizable landmarks that reflect the department’s commitment to equity and justice. These high-quality photos were incorporated into all communication materials and shared with community partners for their own use.

  • Social Media Assets: To enhance OSJ’s social media presence, we developed a series of branded graphics highlighting cultural recognition days and heritage months, tailored for use across Snohomish County’s digital platforms.

  • Video Production: We produced a series of videos that were shared via OSJ’s website, YouTube channel, and social media. The videos introduced the community to the department’s leadership and provided insights into their work and impact across the county.

  • Annual Report: Our team researched, wrote, and designed OSJ’s annual report, March Forward, which showcased the department’s achievements and spotlighted community investment recipients. We also created a video version of the report to maximize engagement through visual storytelling and broaden its reach across digital channels.
